Disebabkan oleh voltan yang lebih tinggi pada bahagian utiliti, sesendal primer\/HV selalunya jenis hadapan mati. Radas hadapan mati bertebat sepenuhnya mengehadkan pendedahan kepada voltan yang lebih tinggi dan mengurangkan risiko denyar arka untuk pekerja utiliti dan orang lain yang layak mengakses kabinet HV semasa pengubah dihidupkan. Satu lagi kelebihan sesendal hadapan mati ialah ia mengurangkan kelegaan elektrik antara sesendal\u2014membolehkan saiz kabinet keseluruhan yang lebih kecil. Jenis sesendal hadapan hidup masih kadangkala digunakan untuk sesendal primer\/HV, namun, ia kurang lazim pada masa kini dalam transformer padmount.<\/p>\n

Oleh kerana antara muka hadapan yang mati biasanya membenarkan hanya satu sambungan kabel bagi setiap penyambung siku, jarang sekali ia digunakan untuk penamatan sekunder\/LV pengubah (di mana berbilang kabel didaratkan pada setiap fasa).
